Sir,

Memorandum of Muslim Ummat against the the Inhumane Incursion of Zionist Forces into Gaza, Palestine

We register with utmost disgust on the latest incursion on Gaza strip and the oppression of Palestinian people, abduction of ministers and members of parliament and the killing of innocent civilian, women and children.

The occupation of Palestine is the crux of the problem, and unless a complete withdrawal from all occupied territories is done, the problem of West Asia cannot be solved. The pseudo withdrawal from Gaza which is just done to cloud the actual situation is meaningless as proven by the latest attack and incursion into Gaza.

The latest atrocities by the Zionist regime against civilians and the general population of Palestine is totally condemned and the US, as being the strongest supporter of the regime is held equally responsible for the deaths of the innocents.

In the latest attacks, Israel continues to employ terror tactics by flying its jet fighters low over rooftops and letting off sonic booms causing babies to cry uncontrollably, shattering windows and putting the population at unease – as promised by regime head, Olmert that the Zionists ‘would not make anyone comfortable’ in Gaza.

The Zionist action is not aimed to free a captured soldier as claimed but more to overthrow the popularly elected government led by Hamas. Upon learning of signs of positive reconciliation between the Fatah and Hamas movements, the ‘soldier’ issue was designed to provide an excuse to remove the Hamas government altogether. The US support for such action is an insult to democratic practices.

The question of human rights is totally disregarded. Why does the US practice a double standard of human rights when it comes to the West Asian problem? Does detaining women and children (some as young as 5 yrs old) constitute respect for human rights? Why hasn’t the US taken action against the regime for this blatant disregard for human rights. Obviously the US feels that Palestinians do not deserve any rights? It is a shame to the US which claims to fight for human rights.

The US-supplied weapons have always been used by the regime to kill hundreds of innocents in Gaza and West Bank. Continued supply of such weapons is the US’ contribution to wanton massacre of innocent people in the occupied territories. The US is held responsible for all the actions taken by the Zionist regime.

The only way the US can extricate itself is to take concrete action in forcing Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, to release of all detainees especially the women and children, and bringing about a complete withdrawal from all occupied territories and a return to the pre 1967 status quo.
